Pendleton is located along Fall Creek in South Madison County.  The first settler to build a cabin locally was John Rogers in December 1819.  In the spring of 1820 seve more families came and thus the community began.  The Falls provided waterpower to mills for grinding corn and wheat to supply the needs of settlers.  Main Street was an important location as settlers could ford the river which brought more people to the area.

In Pendleton, recreational areas aren’t simply a matter of leisure time – they’re part of a very colorful history.  Falls Park and Fall Creek Golf Club have been here for generations, and they’re at the heart of our community.  It’s true, Pendleton has dedicated more space to public use than most towns its size. But people here believe that’s something to be proud of.

A visit to Pendleton should include shopping the unique shops, enjoying a meal, relaxing in beautiful Falls Park, visiting the lighthouse in the old quarry in the park, and a visit to the Pendleton Historical Museum.
